In May of 2000 our company tendered $60,000.00 toward the contractual
price of $230,600.00 to CECO/Taylor Company trading as FIRECAB for the
construction and purchase of a new fire truck. CECO/Taylor is/was
located
at :
150 Derbyshire Street
P O Box V
Chambersburg, PA 17201-0802
As per the terms of the agreement, CECO/Taylor agreed to deliver the
vehicle within 60 days of the receipt of the $60,000.00. The remainder
of the cost of the new apparatus was to be financed through a PA state
loan and the trade in value of our current apparatus. On or about July
21, 2000 CECO/Taylor ceased active operations at their FIRECAB plant.
In discussions with Robert Hunt, the president of CECO/Taylor he has
indicated that the vehicle has not been manufactured and that
CECO/Taylor is in no position to return us our money.
We have worked hard for the last 15 years to raise the $60,000.00 and
we now have nothing. Meanwhile, our current apparatus continues to age
and lose value.
Our past experience with a PA state loan was a very good one. We were
always on time with out payments and never had a problem. We were
appreciative of the opportunity to be eligible to receive an additional
sum on the new state loan that we were applying for because we were
purchasing the apparatus within our own state of Pennsylvania. Now,
thanks to the folks at CECO/Taylor/FIRECAB that opportunity has been
taken away. We feel that not only has our company been ripped off but
in this case the special privileges to be afforded us by the state low
interest loan program were taken advantage of.
We as a company are willing and prepared to fight this matter to the
end to get our money back from either the parent company (CECO/Taylor)
or to see to it that any guilty parties are dealt with appropriately,
as far as our budget will allow.
